This is one of the things that came out at Closing Ceremonies from ICC. (Speaking were: Kelley Barnes, Greg Fountain once and future marketing guy], Chris McDonough [tech guy], and Shane DeFreest. The major points were these: 1. Kelley is moving on to a different position in the company. She'll be taking about eighteen months to transition, and will be easing us through the changes to come. 2. WW has decided that the heavy-handed authoritarian approach they've had toward the club since the acquisition has done more harm than good. Telling us how to do what we do is dumb, and they're going to stop. 3. There are things they think would be Very Good ideas ? rewriting the Membership Handbook is one. Figuring out a way to accommodate oWoD fans is another. They figure that it's not their job or their desire to tell fans of White Wolf's games not to play them just because the books aren't on store shelves. On that note: 4. Books on store shelves are largely a dying thing. WW believes their future is in e-publishing, and are going to move in that direction, with live errata and updates to purchased books. The MMO is a big part of that. However: so is live-action play. 5. It used to be the case that WW fans were the most distinctive fans in the hobby. They believe that the role of the Cam is to be at the vanguard of WW play, to set the tone for everyone else. To be the "tip of the spear," or some such thing. LARP is not going away, and neither is the Cam. 6. They're going to be working with Lone Wolf to create a chronicle management software package for the Cam's needs, with the eventual goal of selling it on the market. 7. WW is going to be running a vampire fandom-based convention in New Orleans in Fall 2010. 8. "And, in the long run, a new world waits to be born." That's our teaser, folks. It's been a blast getting settled into my role in Dark Places, but I'm realizing that I may need some help with where I want to take this office, and the level of game it provides. So with that! An All Call for the following position: Project Assistant: DPOTM: Requiem Development. For those of you saying "But I don't know anything (or a lot) about the mechanics of Requiem". I have great news: THESE POSITIONS REQUIRE LITTLE TO NO MECHANICAL KNOWLEDGE OF REQUIEM SOURCE MATERIAL What it does require however: 1. The ability and desire to do a little bit of research. 2. A versatile imagination. 3. A passion for the Requiem venue (Or at least, the desire to tell a story). 4. Access to a computer, the internet, and a phone. (The phone is for purposes listed below). 5. A record of on time reporting that is supported by at least one supervising officer. What you will be doing while working with me in this capacity: 1. Helping me develop an entire history and current IC structure for the Dark Places: Requiem location(s). 2. Assisting with proofreads, analysis of your peer's work, and submission of final content. 3. Reporting once a month all work accomplished while on staff. Those interested in applying for this position must submit the following information to myself at requiemdpotm at gmail.com, by November 20th, 2009. Not including all of this information will result in you not being selected for the position. 1. Name 2. Camarilla Number 3. DC and DC's Contact Information 4. Phone Number (This will be used to handle an over the phone interview, only, unless of course, you like talking to me) 5. Email Address (I ask that you have a gmail address, but this is not required) 6. Camarilla Resume 7. Brief Summary of Real Life Work Experience 8. Any DA's received in the last two years. 9. 3 Camarilla References. (Yes, I will be contacting these people.) 10. I've given you the basic information that you will be helping me, if hired, to develop the historical and current in character settings for locations covered by Dark Places. Why do you feel you'd be best for this position? What drives you to want to do this? 11. Aside from your resume, what experiences have you had in editing an open source project that has a large group of contributors? 12. Here's the hard part, and a test, of sorts. Write down, describe, and clearly identify the KINDRED history of Helsinki Finland. Identify how the kindred history correlates with normal mundane history for no longer than 75 years prior, but no later, and identify the current court, it's officers, and their history. Identify the methods in which the court is ran, and any significant events that may have happened in that city's kindred history involving this court. (Notice: This will not be incorporated into current Dark Places settings. It is only a test.) On November 20th, I will begin screening and interviewing applicants, so please, take your time, and give this your best effort. I look forward to speaking with those of you who do apply. Thanks! I agree that during the game the books should be gone. But some people don't retain knowledge reading the depth of a gaming system online (like myself), when the knowledge itself can be a major part of what your character knows. This is why I'm not a good Invictus, I never read the actual book and only attempted reading it online :) -- OOC: Bill Malvasi US2002021749 From dimmak42 at gmail.com Wed Nov 4 10:11:12 2009 From: dimmak42 at gmail.com (James Ruggiero) Date: Wed, 4 Nov 2009 13:11:12 -0500 Subject: [CamRI] FW: [NHMACam] Original World of Darkness and the Cam In-Reply-To: <2fcf1c2b0911040957v5d452b9cjeb95035bf5e141fa@mail.gmail.com> References: <20091102063604.lu7wmnkq1ccoksk4@www.hilander.com> <313454.22930.qm@web52108.mail.re2.yahoo.com> <2fcf1c2b0911031048v3e4e2a2amb0f4f5553f7aeb4e@mail.gmail.com> <276895.26543.qm@web52103.mail.re2.yahoo.com> <2fcf1c2b0911040946k6af173abm7ae63af8875102c3@mail.gmail.com> <2fcf1c2b0911040957v5d452b9cjeb95035bf5e141fa@mail.gmail.com> Message-ID: Kinkos charges approximately 35$ to print a pdf the size of the MET Requiem book in black and white bound in a comb style manual. Please no lemonade, iced tea, Red Bull or any energy drinks. If it has a MA redemption, then we can take it. Marine Toys for Tots Foundation November - December 2009 http://toysfortots.org/default.asp The Holidays are right around the corner. Help the Marine's put some smiles on children's faces this December. The Toys for Tots Program collects new, unwrapped toys and distributes those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens. Making a Donation: Donations to Toys for Tots can be made both in person and online. In order to credit those individuals who go out into the cold and purchase a gift to be dropped off, there are two categories of prestige awards. In Person Prestige: $10 worth of toys - 10 Regional Prestige $20 worth of toys - 20 Regional Prestige $30 worth of toys - 30 Regional Prestige Drop off locations can be found here: http://toysfortots.org/donate/toys.asp *Different Drop Offs have different cut off dates, so please be sure to check those. Brace yourself for the following teaser: Delivered to kindred of quality (ie anyone with Providence status,) and an open invite to those who wish to accompany them. "Dear Kindred, It has been some time since I have come to public light and I have watch events in the background as this jewel of city has risen, fallen and risen again. I am pleased at its present state, though I never thought such open borders would work. Times change indeed. As the year closes I have decided to hold a small soiree. There shall be a wine sampling and few finer vintages supplied from my cellar. Respect, form and courtesy is expected though exceptions will be made for dress for consideration of the mask. Sincerly, Lord Alexander Overstreet Iron Fist of the Ocean State" OOC For those unaware, locked down and ruled Providence for over 100 years in its past. He retired to the sleep of ages about 5 and a half years ago. -- James A Ruggiero US2002023492 NEaRST Awakening VST Requiem RI 001 From dimmak42 at gmail.com Mon Nov 16 14:29:34 2009 From: dimmak42 at gmail.com (James Ruggiero) Date: Mon, 16 Nov 2009 17:29:34 -0500 Subject: [CamRI] Head count for Sat Message-ID: Just a heads up for the hosts, it looks like we have several visitors from Norwich, as well as at least 2 "new" members checking it out (1 was a member of the original RI Cam from 1999, you know those people who made us RI002 back in the day.) and I believe my cousin Joe. -- James A Ruggiero US2002023492 NEaRST Awakening VST Requiem RI 001 From us2003031415 at hotmail.com Mon Nov 16 17:32:36 2009 From: us2003031415 at hotmail.com (John Tyler) Date: Mon, 16 Nov 2009 20:32:36 -0500 Subject: [CamRI] Head count for Sat In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: Cool! AWAKENING: Saturday November 21st The McDowell House 24 Anthony Drive Time: 1pm - 5pm Refresher: The Awakened were brought on to a case of a mysterious cop shooting with no witnesses...and no shooter? They have a theory that spirits past are reliving the event now, but where does that leave the poor wounded, possibly haunted officer? Teaser: He loves me not He loves me He loves me not He loves me He loves me not He loves me There's no comfort anymore in these words, this happy stanza. He loves me not I say it, as I have every month or so for three years, but it doesn't work, it doesn't bring me back to my youth, back to before. I used to think it wasn't my fault. But I was wrong. I know because HE tells me. He loves me I can hear my daddy now, in the hall. 'Are you almost done in there, kiddo?' 'Yes' I call, the tears pooling in the fierce bite mark on my lower lip. The pain is duller now, too, but it still hurts like a bitch. Oops, I shouldn't say that, even in my head. He will know and he won't like it. He loves me not I fear he will burst in any moment. I fear that he won't. 'Don't dawdle now, I don't want you to miss school.' His words are warm, like the tears on my cheeks and the bloody towel under my feet. I look down and then I know, then I find the comfort I was seeking from this ritual. I scoop up the nine answers from the floor and toss them hastily into the toilet. The towel and the pliers go into the hamper, at the bottom where he won't see. 'Coming, Daddy.' I call over the flushing water. The last answer, the truth, I keep for myself. I rinse off the blood and tuck it carefully into my pocket where it will press into my leg as I sit in my desk, reminding me all day that He Loves Me Social 5:30 - 7:00 REQUIEM: McDowell House 24 Anthony Drive 7:00pm - ? Teaser: Delivered to kindred of quality (ie anyone with Providence status,) and an open invite to those who wish to accompany them. From the Daeva who was plain better than everyone else, to the clever Gangrel coverups for claws, the Donovan-Mattie perfect Mehket tag team, the way Eddie Brago gets crap constantly and yet turns the situation to his benefit every time, right on to the pimp who jumps from pomp and pleasure to smacking fools as needed, all of you made my night. It was awesome. > And lest I forgot, kudos to Jim for setting a compelling stage that gave us clear direction and yet room to make the game our own. > Thank you all. > > Be Well, > Jon "No H" McDowell :) > > > Have A Great Day, > > Jonathan McDowell, Sr. > US2002045163 > > _______________________________________________ > CamRI mailing list > CamRI at camarillaprovidence.org > http://camarillaprovidence.org/mailman/listinfo/camri_camarillaprovidence.org ________________________________ Windows 7: It works the way you want. As I will be working the 3rd weekend I am requesting we reschedule. Assuming we do a Saturday game I am available the following dates: Dec 5, 12, and 26. I am not available the weekend of the 19th. However I have a very rare situation of vacation for the last week of Decemeber and I can do any date after the 26th... though a mid week larp night has never been successful I am throwing it out there. Right now Dec 5th looks like the best date as it avoids holidays and competition with game of the month in Albany. Your thoughts greatly appreciated.
