IC: Each night the moon glows with a eerie red-orange glow like an impending storm. The nights are misty and full of fog despite what the weather reports say. Mortals and prey do not notice these events but your vitae is on edge like you are being watched. The beast wells up frequently with moments fugue as you wake in a bloody mess. Hulking beasts are remembered in shadows and remembered dreams bring the words, "The pact is fulfilled, our debt is paid." The damn smell of wet dog is left at the back of your pallet. Each night becomes more difficult to wake and creatures flitter behind your eyes. Paranoia increase and you are taunted by a man in pin striped suit with polished penny loafers, "hahaha you really are so insignificant." And finally as the rage over comes the beast demands survival and the cocoon of torpor wraps you in peace... as much peace as descending into hell in order to heal ones damned body can be. When you wake you are not where you slept, but at least the turmoil, the fog, the red moon is gone. ================================== James A Ruggiero US2002023492 VST Requiem RI 001 From alucard_333 at yahoo.com Wed Jun 3 09:20:55 2009 From: alucard_333 at yahoo.com (Herbert Hicks) Date: Wed, 3 Jun 2009 09:20:55 -0700 (PDT) Subject: [CamRI] VST Awakening Message-ID: <74779.17399.qm@web111513.mail.gq1.yahoo.com> Hello all, In the end we have one applicant Jon McDowell here is his App. Application: Jonathan McDowell, Sr. US2002045163 Cam Experience: ACC Education RI-002 DC RI-002 VST Requiem RI-002 DST RI-002 ARST Chief of Staff (current) Vision Statement: I have learned a lot about my fellow players in my years as an ST. I have seen my mistakes when writing plots and I have seen successes of others. Having evolved as a story crafter, I would like to take on the Awakening venue and breathe new life into it. Awakening has long been treated as a 'super hero' venue. Everyone gets along in the end and rarely is there any threat which the team cannot rally to overcome. This is especially true in the small RI venue. The reset gives us the chance to examine the hero fallen, the dream shattered. With the balance of power so suddenly tipped, enemies will emerge that may have escaped notice or actively hidden from the Awakened in the past. The horror of Awakening is not Hubris. The true horror is being Awakened. This is not a blessing, it is a curse. You see the wonder of the universe and realize that those around you do not. They live their tiny lives, steeped in sorrow and monotony, unaware of the potential around and within them. Yet, are they not safer? For beyond the wonders lies the darkness, the hungry hordes that know only feeding and pain. Will you bring light to the miserable and risk the nightmares finding them, or do you walk alone, hiding the limitless joys of eternity simply for the protection of the Sleeping mind? The unsung hero, the forgotten guardian, the teacher who sees their students grow and die. This is what it is to be Awakened from the Dream of the real. Specific Goals: A cross venue plot with Requiem A cross domain plot that ties RI Awakened to the few remaining mages in the NE Reset plot that helps transition- while some amount of OC grin and bear will be needed, a cohesive story is required to allow for progression Personal plots that define each Awakened and how they choose to live. Stories that begin and conclude in a session or two, and a long plot or two that ebb and flow over the course. Issues: I won't deny I have faults- My stories often get overly complex, I aim to avoid that by using successful literature and media as a guide (but not a mirror). I have a family that comes first, so I face challenges for certain game times. I will aim to mitigate this to the best interests of both. I intend to work closely with the DST for game coverage as needed. I welcome any questions. In the past we had a pretty pimped out working space with security, size, library and hallow all up in the fives. With players dropping out of the game and xp going away with leftovers being allocated to important things, I'm afraid we may have a pretty significant drop in functionality of the Chantry. So this weekend's game is my first and our first after reset, and our last before Nere...no pressure. To make it the best I can, I'd like all Awakening players to privately send me what the information below. Please send to Likecaesar at gmail.com as I'm not up on the VST account just yet. The current local reset plot is designed with a large chunk of mystery, ala amnesia, but not at all permanent. I fully intend to explore what happened to each character as much as the players wish, but leave them setup to move forward from this event. There will be a generous emphasis on action as well, maybe not combat, but it won't hurt to have a dot in Athletics for some of you. What I Need from you: 1. Name and PC Name (s) 2. What your PC has done since our last game in May, if anything. NOTE: please don't make things up as if for DT, I am only looking for things you have done such as other games attended, IC emails sent, etc. 3. Have you participated in a reset plot already? If so, please describe. If not, have you seen any that strike your fancy more than the unknown local plot? 4. What you want to see in the reset plot in general 5. What you want to see for the reset plot specifically for your character? 6. Revised Character Sheet If you need help with revising your sheet, please contact me. If you have any questions for me, please post here as others may have the same questions. Thank you. Secondly, I don't like how I explained the proposed reset plot. I've always favored less info over more, it's a failing I'm working on. Simply put, I'm looking at this Saturday, and beyond, as including fading amnesia as a key source of the mystery. Hence, when addressing the 6 questions I posed, please also indicate if you wish to opt-in for the local plot as described below. You may elect not to opt-in, in which case we will privately discuss your reset event. Local Mage the Awakening Reset Plot: "Lost" Concept: The PCs awaken to a feeling that something is wrong, very wrong. As they explore this awareness, they discover they have changed, they have been broken. Why, how, and what happened become crucial questions, but thirty days have passed and a new threat rises. Can the Awakened survive long enough to find their answers? OC Notes: 1. This is NOT an 'amnesia plot'. The goal is to get answers, not just except fate's decree. There ARE answers for the getting. 2. You volunteer to leave the last 30 days of your PC's history to me. Continue to submit your desired actions for the month passed, but be advised that opting in to this plot may negate some or all of those actions. 3. Each character's events should emphasize their unique story, if there are pivotal things or themes you want out of the reset, please let me know. 4. You do not need to opt-in to this plot to enjoy Saturday's game. You will simply be dealing with the threat and those who have opted-in. 5. There will be choices for the group to make as to how the discovery unfolds. Flashbacks are possible. Please have a PRE-RESET version of your character sheet on hand at game, just in case I hope this helps whet some appetites better than my first post. Again, if you have any questions or concerns about the plot, please voice them herein so all may benefit. The skill loss, however, does not affect her pulls. She still has the same chance for successes with the new draw system and the new stats. Attached please find both versions of the character sheet in Excel format. "Nora now" is before the reset and "Nora Reset " is after the reset. I did the reset one shortly after the reset guidelines were done, so there may be some errors. If so, please let me know so I can correct them, as I have found that with the Windows 7 update I must reinstall the Office Suite of programs. I am not sure how this might fit in with the reset or what you might be able to do with this odd occurrence. If you are looking for information about the character's mortal history, look at http://angelencampment.livejournal.com/?skip=20 and start at the bottom of the page. Even though I knew ooc that the xp was going away and there wasn't much point to it, I figured I would carry on with the character as if nothing was happening until the reset. That way the loss may seem more poignant. So if it matters to anyone, Sexton was looking particularly corpse-like and wearing gloves for about half a month. I will review Nora's history again tonight, but I like her where she is presently. I'd like to see a bit of growth in her understanding of the Awakened world, but there's not been much that has occurred that would support that. Mind you, that's not on you, you have tried every session to develop Nora and I appreciate that. 1. Would you like to have a better idea of the Awakened world as Nora? If so, how great a depth would you seek? Would you like to lay groundwork for improved understanding on your own, or are you happy as things are presently? 2. Do you want to be part of the local plot or would you rather play it off as you've always been as you are post-reset? 3. What do you seek to get out of Awakening? What do you like/dislike about the game? You make up at least 25% of the venue, and I want to make sure that you're getting the most out of your investment. You've met Matt and Doug at last game; Rob works with us at APC and from my email conversations is very excited and already has a great concept that I think will fit in. I'd like a little help from you all, this goes both for our Requiem and Awakening players, restoring the cam-wiki's, updating our own city information, and establishing the pace of our own game. The cam-wiki as you might have not have heard recently got support from white-wolf directly. Prior it was run by a nice volunteer and all the information was stored there for a while. Now some information got transferred but not all and this is where we could use your help. Below will be the links to our Requiem and Awakening pages. Let's try to get these updated so folks can see how much we have to offer. Next is a brief role call of what we have in the Requiem Venue (I'll leave Awakening to Jon), the formating won't be pretty because its an email: Character, Clan, Covenant, City Position, Player Angelia Hastings, Daeva, Invictus, Harpy, Mellissa M Donavon, Mekhet, Crone, none, Doug H Eddy Brago, Gangrel, Seeking, none, Matt B Horned Owl, Mekhet, Crone, none, Dana L Kaoniki, Gangrel, Sanctified, Regent/Bishop, Diana R Julius Carver, Daeva, Carthian, Sheriff, Jon M Mr. Shaz, Mekhet, Unknown, Crazy guy in the tower beyond, Jon M Paul James, Ventru, Invictus, Deputy Sheriff, John G Rev. Jim, Gangrel, Ordo Dracul, Seneschal, John T Tschitquihilleu Elauwit, Gangrel, Ordo Dracul, Prince/Chief, James R (FYI he's been mostly mia since I got elected ST to avoid conflicts of interest) Yodo Daisho, Nosferatu, Ordo Dracul, none, Joe L We also have Jared L from Norwich who has City status in Providence with Vermeiden a Gangrel Sanctified. Rob intends to make a Daeva, but I'll keep the details of his new character lossy until he gets it approved and such. Finally I will be looking at our VSS that is woefully out of date. I'd like you to take a look at it and suggest changes, please. Please, trim your replies... not everyone uses gmail.
