In order to make NERE 2009 the best convention it can possibly be, I need your help. To that end, I'm putting forth the All-Call for NERE Leads. At the end of this message, I will be listing the various positions for which I'll be accepting applications. If you think that you can contribute to the effort to make NERE amazing, please send me a Camarilla resume, including convention volunteer experience, and any relevant real world experience to khourytamarisk at gmail.com by January 15, 2009. If you want to apply for more than one Lead position, please feel free, but make sure to clearly indicate your preference. If you intend on applying, please understand that I will be expecting regular status reports on your progress, input on the NERE 2009 list, and good turnaround time in response to queries from members (general and officer alike) in the preparatory months before the convention. I will also be relying on you at the convention itself, so please expect that some of your time during the convention will likely be earmarked for work instead of venue participation. Thanks! ************************ NERE Lead Positions: Con Second - This position will be my right hand before, during, and after the convention. If you are selected, you will need to be familiar with all aspects of NERE, as the Con Second needs to be someone with Cam Convention experience and familiarity with both the OOC and IC sides of events. IC Registration Lead - Responsible for the check-in of all characters in all venues that are brought to NERE 2009. Ideally, the IC Registration Lead needs to be familiar with the rules for as many venues as possible. This individual will be responsible for ensuring that all IC Registration volunteers have notes on all venues being run to assist with check-in, will provide a list of specific items to the ST leads as requested, and will assist with any character audits. OOC Registration Lead - Responsible for maintaining a list of all pre-registered individuals as well as all onsite registration. Floor Coordinator - Responsible for the set up of all spaces during the convention, both IC and OOC. This includes any decorations for IC events, chairs, tables, etc. OOC Programming - Responsible for all non-game events, including panels, Q&As, gameshow venue, etc. Local Information/Transportation - Responsible for collecting and communicating information about local food, entertainment, and other activities. Also responsible for researching transportation options from various parts of the Region and elsewhere to assist members in attending the event. This may include communicating airport shuttle options, coordinating carpools, researching current travel deals, and arranging for individuals to be picked up from other locations such as bus and train stops. Security - Head of the security team responsible for maintaining both the hotel property with which we interact and the safety of all members. This individual needs to be able to be firm in their dealings with other members, while adhering to the CoC. Volunteers - Responsible for ensuring that all shifts of volunteers for other leads are filled with enough people to keep NERE running smoothly. Also responsible for ensuring that accurate records are kept for all volunteers for prestige purposes. Hospitality - Responsible for organizing and coordinating the hospitality suite, including menu planning based on possible member food donations and onsite resources Charities - Responsible for planning and executing charity events (including an auction) in support of the selected financial charity Vendors - Responsible for attracting suitable vendors for our event and coordinating their activities onsite. Web/Communications/Publications - Responsible for supervising our web-presence, including regular communications to appropriate email lists and web content on the official NERE site. Also responsible for the layout of the official NERE program and the publication of any paperwork not supplied by White Wolf. (It is my goal to have the preliminary NERE website up and running by Feb. 1st, 2009, in order to provide a medium for the NERE Venue Style Sheets as quickly as possible. I think Seth is going to be a new way of thinking in Awakening and I'd be hopeful to see more of that brought back into the game. To those who think that the Cam is too restrictive, you're sort of right, but no more so than playing a Dark Sun, Star Wars, or Dragonlance game, or any other setting where there are core events and principles you can't touch. The latest addendum actually gives local STs impressive leeway for their stories. Best of all, the DST isn't a plot-centric role as much as an overseer who ensures that the VSTs maintain rules and continuity. It CAN be plot focused, but it's actually more administrative, so anyone should feel confident applying.
