Sexton,

I speak for myself in this. Ordinarily I would agree with you. It is very
difficult for visiting magi to come to our city and swear a geas for
reasons they do not understand. It is unwelcoming and uninviting. And
outsiders may distrust us. Let's remember why the geas exists. We wanted a
desmesne. We wanted the ability to cast without reprisal in our Chantry.
Such a luxury demands substantial sacrifice. We needed soul stones; not
exactly a light undertaking. We needed to assure those willing to make the
sacrifice, for the good of the group, that the stones would not be used
against them to obtain sympathetic connections. To protect them the geas
was put in place. Unfortunately "loose lips sink ships", if we want to
quote history. Without the geas, anyone who was given "the grand tour" of
the chantry could easily be told about the stones. I made that sacrifice,
I would not have without assurances people could not blab about them to
anyone who felt like listening.

Fortunately for the outsiders they are not dealing with the same issues we
are. Is it paranoia, yes. However we have an enemy who knows who we are,
who can be anyone at anytime, and has shown he/she/it is more than capable
at striking at us from the shadows. If they wish to call this the
Providence Patriot Act, let them. Opinions excel at scoring political
points, but they seldom solve problems. At this point, survival, I
believe, takes precedence. Still if you wish to bring this up to the
consilium that is your right, and feel free.

I for one feel if the Magi visiting do not wish to participate in this
geas, which is completely understandable (I would feel the same way if
visiting), then our Chantry is off limits, as is the location. We could
perhaps meet on neutral ground such as the train station, the Providence
Public library or the Coffee house.That may be something which could be
brought up to the consilium as well.
