Good Evening,
I hope everyone is doing well. As we full transition into summer I'd
like to take the time to shake of the dust and review our game and some
coming changes. I look forward to everyone's feedback and help snowballing
this into a truly great effort to revitalize both venues (and maybe build
some new ones?).
Rule reminders
1. DT actions: Downtime actions are required to be in writing by this domain
for all venues. If we do not have a written copy somewhere, we are NOT going
to be held accountable for these actions. This is to insure that everything
is handled properly, all parties who should know things get the chance to,
future STs have a reference to look back on, higher levels have
documentation for your approval items, etc. This is a rule established by
all STs in the Domain and is inviolate. In order to better serve you, we
kindly thank you for this extra effort on your part.
2. Shared Merits: Be it Havens, Sanctums, or whatever, Shared items must be
handled to the best interests of all parties. Simply put, if you invite
someone to stay at your house, gain benefits from your feeding grounds, or
change some aspect of the Shared item, you MUST make all parties aware of
this fact OCly. If you are attempting to do something discreetly, such as
sneak a lover into your room without your roommates seeing, then the action
SHALL be referred to an ST for handling BEFORE it is considered resolved.
2A. It has been brought to my attention that events have transpired
which were not made clear to all parties OCly. These actions will be
integrated into the story as smoothly as possible. The ST chain will contact
the impacted parties and establish final continuity. If you have a similar
situation which an ST is not aware of, please notify us promptly.
2B. Attempts to buy into a Shared Merit are a Low Approval item, like
all changes to a character sheet. As such, they should be given in writing
to the proper VST for consideration and to ensure that all parties have a
chance to voice their thoughts. Please remember that we are trying to
balance OC mechanics with IC role play. Be open minded and understanding of
the process.
3. Domain History: The STs will be continuing to craft the Domain's history
using the resources available. Parties directly impacted by our work will be
notified of knowledge before it becomes important to play. Most directly,
this will mean that we will build upon the existing history of the domain
and post a document of this work for everyone to go view. NOTE: This is a
Vorgon Construction Fleet scenario- If you don't go read it, we might still
run over your planet with bulldozers. Although we do promise not to hide it
in a basement on Alpha Centauri.
3A. If there is something you want to add to the History or an event
you want to bring into existence, the STs will gladly continue to accept
such items for review by the Domain, as we have been doing all along.
3B. Given schedules, it has proven impossible to organize an effective
Domain history writing so this work will be largely conducted via Internet.
If you lack regular access to the same, please contact the DST for
accommodations.
4. Plot Leakage: To allow for effective and prompt distribution of plot
going forward, we have decided to employ new distribution methods. They are:
A. Automatic Information: By virtue of your Contacts, Allies, Status,
and other items, your PC may be privy to information simply by virtue of
existing. Such information will be sent to your electronic point of contact
on a semi-regular basis by the DST.
NOTE: This is a benefit we STs are giving to those who have
purchased items with XP. We appreciate that your PC has spent twenty years
smoking fatties outside the Circle K, but that is not the same as purchasing
Contacts in Street. Hence, we will not tell you automatically in advance
that the building across from the Circle K got firebombed in the middle of
the day. This doesn't mean you won't find out about it, just that we don't
promise that we'll email you that information before everyone else.
B. Domain IC Newsletter: YES! I will be publishing an informal Domain
Newsletter of events which occur in our fine World of Darkness. This will
function similarly to the stories I used to put on the website (and still
will), but will arrive in your Inbox without you having to do anything.
Lucky You.
C. PCs: Yes, indeed, you players are a vital avenue of delivering plot
into the hungry hands of those who want it. Asante wants to hit something,
but lacks any means to get plot to do so. What do we do? We tell Elauwit
that someone's killing hookers on the lower east side. Now Elauwit may just
go handle it himself, cuz he's such an awesome David Hasslehoff kind of guy.
Or he might invite his buddy Asante along for the trip and VOILA plot is
distributed.
NOTE: Seriously, this how we do it. You all are vital to
making it work.
5. Volunteer STs: This is just a reminder that our STs are good enough to
give their time to make the game the best it can be, but they need your help
and support, too. The Cam gives us a framework to base our game on, but they
must interpret those rules specifically to each circumstance. If you have a
question or issue with a ruling, it is not wrong to ask for a justification
or raise it up to the next level on the chain. By the same token, sometimes
our answer must be vague. We (Jon especially) will try to be better about
that, but please be understanding and wait for all the facts to come to
light before you form an opinion. Feel free to set a date to review your
issue: "Alright, I'll go along with this, but if I don't understand it
better by next month, could you please give me more to work with so that I
do?"
In short, this is like a tabletop game: we all have to work together to
make this work, not just the STs. If you have a concern or gripe, voice it
so that we can all talk about it, conquer it, and make the game better as a
result. I mean really, who wants to spend time and money on a game they
don't enjoy? I don't.
6. Laconic DST: Alright, I tend to talk a lot. I just do it to fill a void.
Thanks for Reading!
