Good Evening,

Now that Temple Con has passed, I wanted to take a minute to
review recent events in our club and discuss the future. I will be brief and
thank you for reading this whole letter and not just skimming :).

*Temple-Con*
Temple-Con was a good time and we are hoping to see at least
four new faces at our next game. There were some quirks and frustrations,
but response from attendees and the TempleCon organizers was quite positive
overall. I invite everyone to submit their own feedback on the Forums here:
http://www.camarillaprovidence.org<http://www.camarillaprovidence.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=146>.
Please offer constructive praise and criticism, it all helps make the club
better.

*C-4*
Another convention is coming up, C-4. This looks to be even
better in terms of space and attendance. However, I (and the DC who takes my
place) will be waiting to hear back from you all before signing the club up
for another Con, so we can't wait to see that TempleCon feedback.

*Mage Game and City-Building*
This Sunday, February 25th, Jim and Diana have been kind enough
to offer up their new place as the site for two events. First is a
city-building and VSS update session. If you can attend please do; this is
vital to our game and your personal enjoyment of the game. This may be worth
XP and/or Prestige, but the biggest incentive is that you get to tell the
STs exactly what kind of game you want to play and build a place in that
game with your fellow players.
This will be followed by a Mage game. Though last month's
attendance was limited, I can personally attest to the joy of violating the
sanctity of the Providence Athaneum and getting our greedy little mitts on
some juicy Mysterium secrets. Oh yeah, and Jim kicked a demon's butt.

*VST Needed!
*We need to hold a VST Requiem election. I am announcing a two
week period for interested parties to email me their vision statements or
questions. In the meantime, I will direct the Requiem venue while actively
seeking an interim VST privately.

*General DST Stuff*
I want to personally thank everyone who made TempleCon a
success. I literally could not have pulled it off without each and everyone
of you, especially not on Friday. THANK YOU!
Some people voiced valid concerns about the elevated violence
factor and such during the T-Con sessions. I ramped up these games to
attract new players and show off all the aspects of our club. Friday showed
off the social side and introduced a bit of big time plot (aka. National).
Saturday suffered a bit from some last minute changes, but several newbies
appreciated the chance to get their feet wet in combat, which they didn't do
as much on Friday. So in case you were concerned, no, I am not intending to
run an "assault on Elysium" plot each month.
On the other hand, these plots were not randomly constructed.
They are the direct result of things going on in the city. They were not
isolated incidents. If you were concerned OCly, you should be equally
concerned ICly. After all, it's been months since there was an attack at a
Vampire gathering, and now we get two in one weekend. What's changed? Are
Kindred safe anywhere except the Giamassi mansion? How long will that be
safe, if it isn't already compromised?
Rest assured that there are currently no less than 10 active
plots running in Vampire, with more in the wings. If you don't like one
story I encourage everyone to keep their eyes open because there's plenty
going on for all kinds of interest levels.

*IMPORTANT! JIM WAS RIGHT!*

PLEASE keep your character sheet up to date on the *approvals database*.
While I prefer the CRD in some ways, I humbly admit *Jim was right *about
its uselessness. When the CRD is reachable, it still isn't searchable by
STs, so it's less useful than I thought. I will be using your PC sheets on
the APPS Database for reference in all cases.

*Staying Informed*

The ST team has been posting local headlines to the forum pages
under the topic IC News Bites. If you want to follow up on anything you see
there, please post a reply asking for the STs to contact you or send an
email with the headline title in the subject to dst at camarillaprovidence.org.
If you don't have internet or the time to check the forums regularly, you
may elect to spend a DownTime action "keeping informed of the news" and I
will email you any new stories each week.
If you have Allies watching for particular events, or if you
have Status in an area, you may receive notice of events *before* they hit
media outlets. In this case, I will email you in advance of running a
headline story, so that you can take action if you wish.

*DT Actions*

Here's some examples of DT actions your player can take. Note
that these actions may trigger appropriate challenges and DT communications
which you would not otherwise have access to.

   1. Using Allies to *Watch* for certain kinds of activities in their
area of influence, *Identify* others who may be being influenced by
external forces, *Attack *Allies who have been successfully
Identified, *Defend *against attempts to Identify your Allies,
*Do*something for you such as bury a story, arrest someone, etc.
   2. Spend an Action to *Conceal* your personal actions for the month.
This imposes a penalty to anyone attempting to follow your direct movements,
this does not affect actions taken by your Allies, Retainers, etc. but does
help conceal attempts by Vampires to feed.
   3. *Research *something such as a headline story, another character,
you can even use this to try and scope out an area of Influence, although
this obviously exposes you to a lot of trouble. Example: Bella has no
Allies, Retainers, or Contacts but she wants to check up on any reports of
shootings in the Meeting Street area. Her player spends an Action to
Research Police reports of any such events. The ST would then contact the
player and work how this takes place. In this case, Bella had 500$ loaned to
her from another PC and she spends it to bribe a dispatcher at the 23
rd Precinct. This is nowhere near as effective as using Allies or
Status, and it exposes her to great risk, but she now has a chance to hear
about any such attacks before they hit the front page.
   4. *Train *or *Learn* a new Merit, Skill, Discipline, etc.

The list goes on and on. Simply put, it only takes a few minutes to put a DT
action together, you can even do it with your ST at the end of a game.
Vampires get their Resolve in DT actions each month, everyone else gets
twice their Resolve in actions. Don't let these opportunities go to waste.

*DT Report*

Quick and dirty, the purpose of a DT report is to keep STs aware
of your goings on. This helps with your applications, your game in general,
and avoids awkward moments at games like "My character has been watching the
streets for homeless people with fangs, I would have known about this!"
There is a great line from Princess Bride: *"If you didn't say it, you
didn't do it." *I think that sums up my position.
            Besides, it's free exp!

*I'm Done!
*

**Thanks to everyone for your help so far, I can't wait to keep this good
thing going!

Have A Great Day,

"I AM Providence!"
            - Jonathan McDowell, during a moment of post-election, arrogant
glee. (Now that ought to get some folks running for DC just out of spite. :))
