Vision statement:
I love MAge, I helped set up and STed the first MAge game for a couple of
years, way back when. I've had some time to relax and the year off (was
VSTing vampire for a while as well) has done wonders for the creative
muses that wander about in my head. the following is how I see the MAge
game's atmosphere.
(we'll discuss the combat/mystery/intrigue/corruption themes at a later
time this is just how I see mage, and the mood of the game that I plan on
telling.)
I'm aiming for a fluid style of storytelling, more focused on dramatic
sequences, character-defining moments, vivid description with a cinematic
kind of feel. Don't get me wrong, I've have no intention of just tossing
rules to the wind, but I prefer to use less card pulls and more flavor
text wherever possible.
I want to see the world of mage get a little more gritty, hard-edged and
brash. This is not a plot teaser. If you like this way of seeing the nWOD
Mage then hopefully you'll enjoy the game :)
Welcome to Providence, this is a city where evil won a long time ago. It's
only now starting to be challenged. You're not the best chance for the
city, you're just its only chance.
This is Providence, a city where dusty tomes and forgotten graveyards
crash against glittering skyscrapers and neon lights. The alleys are just
a little bit darker, the streets; just a little bit longer, the bass is
just a little bit louder, and the drugs are just a little bit sweeter.
This is a city where the urban elite dominate from on high unchallenged,
protected by cold, impenetrable walls of glass and concrete; the rest of
us struggle and plod through life trying not to get crushed under the
shadow of the skyline. Yet down in the gutters, bars and alleys, the pulse
of the city of palpable; something is happening.
This city needs saving, and you just might have to split a few heads, cap
a few fools, and get a little dirty doing it.
So, you down?
